Natalia Vodianova lands three spring campaigns
By Emma Sells Posted: Tue 24 Nov 2009

Rumours have been circulating for a while now that Natalia Vodianova has been lined up as the new face of YSL. Now we can reveal that not only are the rumours true, but that she has also landed two other major campaigns for next season.

It seems that the Russian beauty is quite in demand on the Spring 2010 ad campaign circuit. She is set to replace 1990's super Christy Turlington as the face of Yves Saint Laurent, and will apparently also star as the face of next season's Givenchy ads. Plus, she has been signed up by friend Stella McCartney to front the stylish British brand after she made her only catwalk appearance in September for the label.

And there's more. Natalia will continue to be the face of Guerlain, will model the much coveted lingerie that she designs for French favourite Etam and will also be the face of Calvin Klein fragrances".

"YSL follows Prada's lead and opts for a model rather than celeb to front its 2010 campaign
By Andrea Petrouon November 24, 2009

Yesterday we told you about Prada's way of standing out from the designer crowd by using a model instead of a celebrity and it seems other fashion houses have the same idea.

Paris designer YSL has today officially announced that Russian model Natalia Vodianova will be replacing (older) supermodel Christy Turlinton for its 2010 Spring range.

And that's not all. It seems Natalie is also destined to deal with Stella McCartney and could front the stylish British brand after she made her only catwalk appearance in September for the label.

With so many high profile jobs under her tiny belt this is one model to keep an eye on".

Bottomline...

Buying mags for the ads will be a pleasure again!

"Natalia Vodianova’s SS10 campaigns
Daily News Emily O'Brien November 24, 2009

It’s all go in the Vodianova household as Natalia prepares to be the face of next season. Just how many major campaigns can one girl handle? Quite a few, apparently.

Not only is the Russian model set to replace 90’s modelling classic Christy Turlington as she lines up to front Yves Saint Laurent’s S/S10 campaign, she’s also the star of next season’s Givenchy advertising campaigns, and has been snapped up by Stella McCartney to front the British brand for spring, after making her only catwalk appearance for the label in September.

Phew! Oh wait, there’s more. As she continues to be the face of Guerlain, Natalia will also be modelling the lovely lingerie she designs for Etam and will front Calvin Klein fragrances (after that steamy ad with Freddie Ljungberg a few years back), Elle UK report.

So that’s what it’s like to be in demand…"

WHERE THERE’S SMOKE:
Traffic came to a standstill on Boulevard Haussmann Thursday night as the newly refurbished Art Nouveau department store Printemps became the venue of a pyrotechnic show to inaugurate its Russian-themed Christmas displays.

Natalia Vodianova switched on the façade’s lights and then attended a cocktail party hosted by Printemps chief executive Paolo de Cesare. But the Russian model didn’t linger too long, blaming the busy schedule awaiting her the next day. 'I have a fitting for my third Etam collection, and I am also shooting a campaign with Givenchy', she said, pointing at her navy blue trouser suit by Givenchy.

Ahead of new fundraising activities for her children’s charity, Naked Heart Foundation,in the New Year, Vodianova said she plans to take time off with her familyduring the holiday season. 'I have found a new vacation home in Uruguay and I am going to spend a month there with my children', she said".

"Natalia Vodianova Campaign Chatter

With two days off, the weekends are prime time for gossip to begin. So when Monday morning rolls around, everyone’s itching to discuss mounting rumors, and today’s just as chatty as any other: The Imagist is reporting that Natalia Vodianova’s set to star in a Spring 2010 campaign for a blue chip brand.

Of course we’re pondering just like everyone else. One more hint alludes that she’ll be posing alongside one of her good friends…another icon.

Already Louis Vuitton is out since Lara Stone has been named the face of that campaign, Karlie Kloss wil model for Dior, Chanel chose Claudia Schiffer and Freja Beha Erichsen, while Dolce & Gabbana reportedly scooped up Madonna. It’s not Versace, since new darling Georgia May Jagger was just confirmed.

During the Spring shows, Natalia only walked for Stella McCartney, but she’s already confirmed for the Yves Saint Laurent campaign. So just which other campaign will she be adding to the list this season?

Blasblog: The Caviar Countdown To DVF’s Russian Bash
October 30, 2009 2:01 pm

I won’t lie: The notion of giving up Mariah Carey and the beaches of Rio, where I was for Fashion Rocks earlier this week, for the subzero temperatures of Moscow was a hard one to swallow. But not long after arriving here for the events surrounding Diane von Furstenberg’s exhibition opening, I found some things that really helped it go down: vodka and black caviar. DVF’s festivities in the Russian capital began last night with a cocktail party in her store on Kuzneckiy Most Street, followed by a dinner at the decadent and quintessentially Russian Pushkin Café hosted by Moscow’s reigning retail queen, Landau Fashion Group’s Aizel Trudel.

Tonight sees the opening of the two-part DVF retrospective—a series of dresses designed by von Furstenberg, and a selection of art she has commissioned—but at dinner, the ladies got a chance to relax and blow off steam. (There had been some stress in the preparations: Apparently getting art into the country is as hard as sneaking Soviet relics out.) But everyone was in a good mood after a few buckets of the good stuff. Von Furstenberg told a story about an enthusiastic masseur who announced, 'I like to give pleasure' —only in regard to his massage prowess, surely, but she stayed on her iPhone for much of the session, just in case.

Husband Barry Diller, meanwhile, revealed that he’s a big deal in Russia because he has a nice boat, which he explained wasn’t a bad reason, all things considered. (Others are notorious in the country for far worse.) In fact, the only scary point for the guest of honor was when Trudel announced the guest list for tonight’s event: 6,000 are confirmed. 'That many people are coming to see pictures of me?' von Furstenberg blushed. Today I bumped into three familiar faces—Naomi Campbell, Natalia Vodianova (who was literally swarmed on the street), and Kate Bosworth—who will be among them. Check back on Monday for my report on the remaining 5,997.

"DVF Takes Moscow
by Miriam Elder

Posted Tuesday November 03, 2009

From WWD Issue 11/03/2009

MOSCOW — Diane von Furstenberg looked visibly harried as she rushed to save a precious Andy Warhol portrait of her hanging on the walls of Moscow’s Manezh exhibition hall.

'Do something! People are just leaning on the art', she shouted to an aide.

The halls of Manezh, located just outside the Kremlin’s walls, were packed with some 800 friends and fans as von Furstenberg hosted a party to celebrate the opening of her retrospective here, titled 'Journey of a Dress'.

'It’s actually very exciting, very emotional', said von Furstenberg. 'My father left Russia 80 years ago and here I am, in a museum. It’s really dedicated to my dad'.

The story of the 63-year-old designer’s career is told through paintings by Andy Warhol and photographs by Helmut Newton. These hang next to blown-up magazine covers and articles from Interview and New York magazine, as von Furstenberg first exploded on to the scene in the Seventies.

Particularly stunning are works by photographer Ara Gallant, featuring von Furstenberg in a denim jumpsuit and bright red boots wrapped around the top of the Empire State Building, and a portrait of the designer with wet hair and her trademark large eyes.

'She is so powerful, and the light is shining from her', said Natalia Vodianova, who gave von Furstenberg the idea to mount the exhibit. 'I said, ‘Why don’t you do a retrospective of your work, of your life — I’m sure the Russian people will be truly inspired.’ She said, ‘That’s a great idea,’ and here we are. Finally'.

Each room of the exhibit, cobbled together in just over a month and curated by Vogue’s André Leon Talley, features mannequins wearing von Furstenberg’s signature wrap dress. They are divided into categories such as Working Girl and Studio 54.

Naomi Campbell wandered the exhibit on the arm of her Russian boyfriend, real estate mogul Vladislav Doronin, and Russian socialite Ksenia Sobchak. 'It’s amazing, it’s very colorful', Campbell said. 'Diane has lived such an amazing life'.

Russian oligarch Alexander Lebedev and Vogue Russia editor in chief Aliona Doletskaya were among the others in attendance. After the opening, von Furstenberg hosted 70 guests at the Bolshoi restaurant, run by Moscow’s top restaurateur Arkady Novikov. They then danced long into the night at new club We Are Family.

Campbell, who now spends most of her time in Moscow, said she saw the exhibit as a sign of the Russian city’s growing importance. 'I’m happy to meet my friends in the city that I live in', she said.

Von Furstenberg has hinted the exhibit will travel, but didn’t reveal specific plans."

Yves Saint Laurent has an impressive portfolio of ad campaigns. They star some of the world's best known models including Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer, and Naomi Campbell. Next season they have recruited another well known face as rumour has it that Natalia Vodianova is to take the reigns.

The Russian beauty was reportedly shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin for the Spring/Summer 2010 campaign. She did attend the show earlier this month in a high waisted leather skirt.

I am already a big fan of Natalia and think it would be great to see more of her! Would you like to see her as the face of the French fashion house?"
